Heads Held high
One definition of yoke is a device formerly laid on the neck of a defeated person. A yoke used in context of this scripture is an oppressive agency servitude, or bondage. God has broken yokes of deception, sin, shame, destruction, fear, lack of confidence, poverty, greed, delusion, division, corruption, confusion, and many more over my life! You probably have your own personal list of yokes that the Great I Am has broken over your life! Why were these yokes broken? So we can hold our heads high and not been defeated!
The Champion, our Lord Jesus Christ bore our sin and bondage so we could live and hold our heads high - no longer living defeated! Jesus said , “Come to Me…my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30). Thank you Lord for breaking our yokes and for inviting us to come to You, get the rest we need, and hold our heads high!
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so you would no longer be their slaves. I broke the yoke of slavery from your neck so you can walk with your heads held high.”
Leviticus 26:13 NLT
