laughs & rejoices in what she knows…

Happy Birthday to Me!

The Lord kept his word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised. She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God had said it would. And Abraham named their son Isaac.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭21‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]!” Proverbs 31:25 AMPC

She rejoices in what she knows for sure…

The definition of Isaac in Hebrew is “He laughs”. Sarah laughed when she thought about her age, the condition of her body, and the Lord’s promise to give her a son. The Lord asked her “Is any thing too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14) By faith, “Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise.” (Hebrews 11:11) When I think of Sarah’s faith to believe God, I think of the strength and dignity she must have carried rejoicing over the fact the Lord would give her the desires of her heart.

I recently celebrated a milestone birthday – 65 – and I’m glad to be “ah-hah-hah-hah staying alive, staying alive! I-I-I-I am staying alive!” (for you Bee Gee fans) Yes, I am known to laugh a lot. There are many reasons for our laughter. Sometimes we may laugh because something is funny - it tickles our funny bone. Sometimes we laugh out of nervousness, to release some tension. Or sometimes we laugh because we think of something, and because we know better, we laugh at the nonsense. Our confidence is not in what we think we know but it is what we do know for sure. There are some things I’ve grown to know for sure. That every good and perfect gift comes from God! What I do know for sure is God loves us. God is working all things together for our good. God is faithful. God is good. God is merciful. God is always with us! And more. In that we can rejoice! We can continue to hope, to smile, to laugh. We don’t have to spend time dwelling on the unknown but on what we do know, that our God is good! Our God is faithful. He holds our future. We can trust in Him! Hallelujah! Lord God, Thank You for salvation, healing, deliverance, peace, joy, and my life! Hallelujah!

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” Proverbs 31:25 NLT
